Since the beginning “The Collabratory” has been a group of creatives with the goals of building community, encouraging growth, and enjoying music. I have always been a music nerd and finding a group that shows so much passion for what they do has inspired me to keep pursuing music even in the toughest of times. From events, to hangouts, to production classes, to livestreams, there are so many opportunities to engage. Being apart of “The Collabratory” has changed my outlook on what community means and I can’t recommend them more.

The Collabratory to me has been super rad! When I joined I was new to the dj world and didn’t have a stock pile of knowledge to use. The Collabratory changed that for me. It gave me a space to ask experienced Djs all of the questions without searching for hours online. Something else that’s great about the Collbratory is the GROWTH! It is very inspiring to watch each person grow over the decks as they become more confident and comfortable performing. I’ve watched people improve from month to month including myself! If I had to pin down the best thing I’ve received from the Collabratory it would most definitely be the friendships. I’ve met several awesome souls who I believe will be life long friends. They cheer ya on no matter the performance, no matter the genre, and through any mistakes that might happen while playing. I’m blessed to have great people around me who strive week in and week out to improve their DJ skills, support newcomers, and have a damn good time!

Collaboratory has done a great job of cultivating a bunch of DJs and producers with eclectic tastes. I support their work as it is a bunch of people celebrating each other’s differences. For an artistic community to thrive it’s the energy we need.

Moving to Tulsa in 2022, I didn't know a single person outside of my immediate family. I spent about 2 years as a hermit. Then, this Summer, I met The Collabratory! I had been a bedroom DJ since I was a kid - zero stage experience, no crowd work techniques and my freestyle skills were nonexistent. DJing is my life's passion, but I had hit a wall as far as learning alone at my desk goes. YouTube doesn't hit the same as a music teacher, and now I have about a half dozen brilliantly talented DJs and producers' wings over me as I learn and navigate this industry. This crew changed the trajectory of my music from a slow, straight forward to tilted straight at the stars. I feel so nourished with support from the Lab. They've turned my life's dream into a reality, and given me a purpose when I had felt so lost and alone before.
